Arlene Vachon (Forrester)

You have no idea how much I would LOVE to be able to attend the golf outing and festivities!  However, finding someone to stay with my husband for a few days is not an easy task.  If that becomes available, I will certainly let Chris and the rest of you know.

Do not ever take your independence for granted!  I'm trying to stay positive with all the challenges.  I'll take any extra prayers anyone has floating around!

Arlene,

Barbara and I know first hand how difficult those daily challenges can be.  We both got very inventive in telling "stories" to my brother and sister-in-law to try and make things ok in their world.  We try to think of the many years of good times we had with them.

We send our hugs and prayers to help you each and every day.

Bless you Arlene, you are surely in my prayers and your hubby too,  I have a dear friend with the same situation and just to go out for lunch is a major planning session before hand , I’ve known them both for many years and it is heartbreaking so I can somewhat appreciate your situation and the cards you’re dealt and how to play them. Take care and know we all care about you and your family

Happy BirthdayJudy, I hope that your day is as special as you are.  Are we safe in presuming that the flooding has receded and that life is getting back to normal?  Best of luck to the Blues tonight - GLORIA!!

Arlene - Judy, Lorrie and Dave put things so well, I echo their comments and wish you, your hubby and family some peace and opportunities.  Janet, many thanks for the compliment, you have given me a smile both inside and out. You're an excellent partner and I'd love to play with you anytime - looking forward to the outing.  While I'm at it - thanks to Larry and Chris for their thoughtfulness and creativity in making this a stress free outing for one and all.  Lucia, thank you for setting up this Forum - a stroke of genius, which we all appreciate.

Arlene,

Wishes and thoughts for your cross to bare. It really is difficult taking care of a loved one. As we can attest it not  only effects your loved one but the entire family.

Our outings each month consit of going grocery shopping every Friday and once a month going to Costco. On a good trip to Costco we might have enough time to have lunch there.

My prayers are with you and all of the class of 63.

Happy birthday guys. At church yesterday and there was a lady doing sine for all the blind people. I was watching her and I thought she was telling Jesus to steal third. Then I remember the commandment thou shall not steal..Third with two outs

Tom Scott,

The sign bit was hysterical. After that one, you should be on the stage.

AND THERE'S ONE LEAVING IN 10 MINUTES.

Arlene the sine for blind people was a tongue in cheek we glad I could make you laugh. My dog Morgan and I had our first visit at assisted living facility through hospice she was great and the ladies loved her

For those who didn't know George Karam was our ace golfer on the golf team. I think I remember hearing he still plays well.

A Happy Birthday to the Wisch,

Hope you are having a great day and the fish are biting. May you have another great year with your dog and man's best friend, your wife.

Wishing you many more and eat cake and drink beer. I know the second part won't be a problem.

Happy Birthday Boys!!  As summer descends and rains subside for the moment, enjoy my favorite time of the year. Have your fill of cake & ice cream and whatever you choose to wash it down!  And get ready for the fireworks and extreme long weekend that going to last all week !

Tom Scott -  I'm sure the ladies at the nursing home were smitten with you just as much as Morgan!  My husband still plays piano at 2 nursing homes, and the ladies line up to give him hugs and kisses when he's done.  He loves all the attention!!

Happy Birthday to Wisch and George!

National Cherry Festival starts tomorrow here in Traverse City.  Those of us who live here HATE the influx of tourists and cars!  The air show over the waters of the Bay (one mile from where I live), runs Saturday and Sunday.  The gawkers driving cars are the worst!  The Thunderbirds (similar to The Blue Angels) practice for 2 days first, and they fly right over my place.  I feel sorry for any veterans with PTSD.  It is pretty annoying (and I will refrain from using language that really describes it).

Happy 4th of July everyone!!

Thanks to all for the birthday wishes.   Those darn numbers keep getting higher, but at least we are still on  the green side of the grass and enjoying life.   Tom

I wish that you all (or "y'all) could see the festivities and decorations here.  The Village of Pinehurst has thousands of flags including one three quarter of a mile stretch leading into town where the road is lined with flags.  Virtually every store has banners and/or American flags in the windows and accross the frontal facade.  The Pinehurst Resort has set up a free mini carnival for the kiddies on one of the golf courses.  Fireworks of course. A fly by of WWI and WWII aircraft, icluding a couple of triplanes.  Parachutists landing on the golf course near the carnival.  But I think that what I like best is the general attitude about our country and our military.  The Pinehurst Resort will set aside a couple of courses for active military to play for free.  Normal outside play starts at $129 for these courses.  There will be a day in the next couple of weeks when the world famous #2 course will host wounded military, both active and retired, for free.  This course is $429 per player right now.  Several local restaurants give military either free meals or half off prices.  All of the private clubs have a form of Red White and Blue events on the 4th.  Some of the outfits are almost comical, but definitely patriotic.   We celebrate our country, as differentiated from our government.  It's both impressive and touching.

I'd like to thank all of the vets in our class, and there are many, several who served in a war zone, and the spouses who waited behind, oftentimes apprhensively.

And as Yoda would say "May the Fourth be with you!"
