It is very sad to hear of Chuck's passing. This morning I reflected on my interactions with him through the years, beginning with playing on the same midget league baseball team for three years starting in 1953. He was, beyond a doubt, the best athelete in our class and one of the best students. But more importantly he was a truly genuine person. I never heard him say a bad word about anyone. He will be missed! May peace be with him and his family!
I'm so glad that I had a chance to chat at length with Chuck two summers ago at our mini-reunion. I have had the good fortune to meet up with Chuck over the course of the years when I worked in the legal profession. He was always smiling, always kind, and always willing to take a few moments to talk with me, no matter how busy his schedule was. He was definitely our quarter-back hero for the class of 1963 - taking us to the finals if I remember correctly. My prayers for his boys and family. Rest in peace, Chuck.
As you all know, Chuck was as good as it gets. With all his outstanding talents, he was a humble stand-up guy. Can't say enough good about him. People like Chuck are few and far between. If there were more, the world would be a better place.
Tom, that was so very well put. We all know what you mean. When we talk about Chuck we get a feeling that's hard to describe. For someone to be that talented, good-looking and accomplish what Chuck did would make most teenagers heads spin. Yet Chuck remained so unpretentious. That part of his character is what I'll always have in mind whenever I think of Chuck. Very admirable, and we were fortunate that we were around when Chuck was.
