... did anyone consider the fact that Tom chose his birthday for his wedding day simply because he KNEW he would never forget his anniversary ? ... I think there was a method to his madness ... wink wink

Well, Well, Well. It's the Murph's 74th year of life. Wishing you the best for the year and looking forward to the next one. I hope you are well, and your wife is as happy as she was when you married.

Keep the faith and remember what you also said.

It's the murph and the OB. If it was the OB and the Murph you wouldn't be able to see the Murph"

Enjoy the day and the year.

Hi Folks:

Sorry for the rather lengthy absence from our class website.  I could use the old "my dog ate my homework(computer)", but it didn't work with the nuns and I'm sure it won't work with any of you.  Actually, between fulfilling our bucket list, while we're relatively healthy, and a few more bumbs in the road with Agent Orange, I'm happy to report all is well due to many prayers from family and friends, the luck of the Irish, and excellent and timely(again luck of the Irish), being one of the first to receive immunotherapy which is literally a life saver.

You fellow Marines will love this.  My oncologist, who was associated with the VA, says she thinks the biggest factor is that I'm a Marine.  She says that all you Marines are alike.  The words surrender, give up or quit are not even in your vocabulary.  I know, I know, being Marines, our vocabulary is rather limited anyway and most of it can't be said in public, whatever the reasons.

Vicki and I are doing fine and enjoying our travels and even with the Agent Orange inconveniences, we are very fortunate and very happy. Just remember, there is always hope for survivors of cancer.  Even after six serious cancers, I'm living proof.

Thanks you ALL for the birthday wishes.  You may recall Vicki's birthday is also October 7th.  By the way OB, I guess the question of who's older has been settled.  I'm older and wiser by 4 days, so in the future show more respect.  Happy Birthday, OB!  In the future, I'll try to be less wordy but keep in touch more often.  My apologies for all of your birthdays I missed..  My sincere condolences to all those who suffered illnesses and lost loved ones.

The very best to ALL of you.

Happy Birthday Belated to both you and Vicki!   Hope it was celebrated in good style amd many more to both of

you.  That Agent Orange sure is a nasty one and so many have to suffer from it, and even die from it,  talk about collateral damage with the other war statistics.  Keep you fight and spirit up  Good to see you posting again!

Happy Birthday, OB.  Do you still have that funky curveball and delicate jump shot?  I hope you are able of enduring that Southern Cal weather and that life stays good to you and those you love.

Robert, good to hear from you but next time perhaps a shorter more succinct message?  How's life going?  Inquiring minds want to know.

Thank you all again for the appreciated birthday and anniversary wishes, anniversary on the 5th and bday the 11th.

Lucia, I will take a hug from you at any time as we did in school. I still remember the Sadie Hawkins dance and always will. Memories.

Mike Young. The hook was always there, but only used in practice. The funky curve was only when I threw it full sidearm. I could not throw one 3/4, I never threw overhand. I could only get by throwing a 2 seam, which they now call a slider and 4 seam fastball. Thank goodness I had good control. Since I broke my right arm a couple years back I now have trouble throwing a wiffle ball to the grand kids.

I hope everyne is well and getting ready for the dreaded Eastern and mid west winter.

Take care to all.

Happy Birthday, Bonnie.  You should have been voted most likely to have a husband electrocuted.  What a story, had us all laughing.  We hope to see you next August, see if you can drag Jayne along, we'd like to see her, too.

OB, I remember facing off with you when I was at LaSalette.  You pretty much shut us down and cost us the championship.  I had figured out your sidearm curve but the only one you threw me was a "sucker" pitch that broke away from me.  With your talent you could throw those wiffle balls left handed.  Too bad you're going to "miss out" on the Winter.

Happy Birthday to Bonnie. Many more to come, you probably are looking at the next 50 like all of us.

Enjoy your day, week and coming year. Stay safe.

Are you sure it was a sucker curve. I must have made a mistake if it was near the plate.

Don't know if you remember Jim Bunning, he is who I fashioned my pitching from.

If it hadn't been for Uncle Sam, I was suppose to go into Detroit and play for the minor league Pepsi team.

Thanks to all my friends and neighbors. Beginning of the military draft letter.

Mike Young

OB - I'm sure it was a sucker curve.  I had been watching you get my team out and I picked up that the sidearm delivery meant a  curve.  I was hoping that you'd throw me one but the pitch came in fat so I knew that it would curve out of the strike zone.  Had I swung and hit it I'd have been an easy out.

Happy birthday to you, Fred.  I trust that all is well in Dayton, presuming that you're still there.  I remember when you got that job as Jessie's stand in on the first tee at Red Run.  Did you ever take up golf?  I think it may have suited your temperament, unless the Air Force had you running helter skelter.

OB, I remerber Jim Bunning fondly, he was one of my favorites and a pretty cerebral pitcher.  I wonder how thngs might have turned out for you had you had the opportunity to test your skills at higher levels.

Happy 74 on your special day. I hope the best for you and for many more to come.

Mike,

Yeah, I'm still in Dayton.  Nope, tried to take up golf but couldn't  get enough time to play consistently.  Never could rise above "just plain awful."  My sports are limited to the spectator variety.  I still get season tickets for Michigan State football.  My daughter, also an MSU grad, lives in Grosse Ile and we go to the games together.  Even the disappointing ones like last Saturday.  The wife is still an avid University of Dayton fan - she gets season tickets for men's basketball, women's basketball and women's volleyball.  She'd get tickets for men's and women's soccer, too, except admission is free for their games.  Sometimes, she takes me to the games with her. We're still going to the Women's Final Four each spring.

Tom,

Thanks for the good wishes.  However, please don't speed me along any faster than necessary.  It's only 73!

Fred

Hi and Happy Birthday to one of our younger ones, Fred.

Reading your Dayton update gets me wondering who else is reading and not writing on this message board.

I know I am not alone when I wish I could hear from more 63ers who may be quietly observing here.

Let’s hear from y’all!
